The Good ol' Park!

Last Saturday we took the little chittlins' to the Morgan Park. Addie has just been begging to go swing and the weather has just been so crappy...but Saturday morning it turned out beautiful. She will swing, and swing, and swing, and swing! I love to let her, but every time we have to leave I just plan on making a big scene as I drag her to the truck kicking and screaming. She also does this funny thing where she almost dis-joints her shoulders so she can slip out of my grip-eew she is good! Anywhoo both the kids enjoyed the sunshine. Mason just sat in the grass and was pretty quiet, playing with blades of grass and hanging out with his Dad. They ate all of Dad's Doritos and half of my bag of chips by the time Addie and I were headed to the truck. You can never, I repeat NEVER leave boys alone with anything that tastes good. It will disappear!
We are enjoying our house so much and it is already feeling like home. I pulled out all my decorations out of boxes and decided I hated all of them. Why? I wonder if it just reminds me of our other house too much or if my style has changed a little. Oh well. Too bad, I guess I will just have to go shopping to get some new ones. : )

Mason is 1!

My baby turned 1! It was just our little family, and we sang Happy Birthday, had dinner, and ate cake. Nothing too exciting. Mason (as you will notice above) is not a "dig right in" kind of kid. He didn't want to get his fingers dirty, so he just bent down and started eating off his plate. Pretty soon he felt a little more comfortable using hands. I think his big sis enjoyed his presents more than him...but what do you expect from a 1 year old? Dad did a super great job picking his presents out on his lunch break. We are just happy we remembered. With trying to get in our house...we almost forgot our beloved son's very first birthday. I can always count on Cody though. He has a memory like an elephant...even if it is the day of.

Potty Training

Our new dog ran away... darn it. She actually did a couple times, but the last time...was just that...her last. I feel so bad about it and I hope she isn't hurt somewhere. She started to bolt when we would let her out to potty, and wouldn't listen when we tried to call her back. So we are just back to Diesel and Duckee.
Also we have started potty training Addie. We are on day 3 today and doing fairly well. She goes pee almost every time we put her on and she has even pooped once, but we are still having alot of accidents. She got to pick out some treats and every time she goes on the potty she gets to pick a treat. Any other suggestions to help this along? I am clueless. Help!

Darn All Those Little Things!

We have mostly moved into our house now....mostly. The building inspector told us we could move our stuff in there but we needed to finish the last few little things to get it up to code before he would give us occupancy. We moved all our stuff, and then slept on Mom's couch for a few nights. But, we decided we don't care if they come and throw us in jail...we wanted to sleep in our own beds-so we did. The building inspector came today and had a few more things to fix, but I am pretty sure he suspected we were living there. He opened the dishwasher to a full load, but didn't say anything. I am glad he is nice and ignored it. He had things on his list today like putting a jetted tub motor access in, something with the AC box, and handrails turned at the ends. I guess they worry about someone going downstairs, tragically snagging their shirt on the end of the handrail, and hanging themselves. That's all I could figure! Anywhoo this almost seems like the hardest part...all the stupid little petty things like getting all those things done plus closet rods, towel bars, etc. We are worn right to a frazzle!
I did work the other night on the Womens surgery floor at Lakeview, and actually it was very refreshing. I worked from 11pm to 7am-only working 8 hours seems like cake after doing 12's. I felt like I used my brain, made some money, and was contributing to our little family. I love being a mom-but sometimes I just feel so much like I am not doing much...even though I know it's not true-I know I am doing the most important work of all. I guess we all just need a change of scenery once in a while.
And for all of those who feel like they have it rough-read Stolen Innocence. It's by Elissa Wall, a former FLDS girl, who put Warren Jeff's in prison. UNBELIEVABLE. That is all I can say. It just reiterates to me my own testimony of our church and it's goodness and truth. The FLDS beliefs, and the rule of Warren Jeffs are so oppressive and women and men are horribly unequals with so much false doctrine it's scary. Anywhoo...you just have to read it to appreciate the gift of the gospel that we truly have...not that we don't already know that-it just helps you remember!

Moving...oh so fun!

Just a little update for ya'll! Cody, Justin, Matt, Jim, and Josh got us pretty much moved on Saturday-thanks guys, we love ya! The building inspector told us we could move our stuff in, but wanted to come back and check that a few little things were taken care of before we technically "live" there. Which is awful, I have come to find out. Once you get all your stuff there and start putting stuff away it is so hard to go back to Mom's and sleep on the couch (at least I get that-Cody slept on the floor). So if he gives us occupancy tomorrow, we will just have to move the kid's beds and our clothes...not too bad.
I absolutley love it! I never thought that in our whole lives we would get to live in a new house-but here we are! I am so proud of Cody for working SO HARD for us. He worked full time and went to school full time. For alot of the time we have been married, he has worked 2 jobs to support our little family. And now he has a WONDERFUL job that he likes. I am so blessed and we have been so blessed in our lives. It was our dream and goal to get our educations and move back home...and here we are. We need to start setting some more goals now I guess. These goals just happened faster than we thought!
Other than a few little gliches the home building process was pretty fast and smooth. A GINORMOUS thanks to Becky and Ron for putting up with our unintelligence about the building process.
Well I will update with pictures of the finished product soon!
