A Busted Nose

Last Friday my little punkin' was standing up holding onto the back of our computer chair in our room and it fell over backwards on her. The whole thing happened in slow motion, and I swear I could not make my body move fast enough to catch her. I thought she konked her head on the rail of our bed, but now I do believe that "crack" I heard was the bar of the chair hitting her nose!! That suspicion was confirmed by her bloody nose. Poor little buggie! These are the results of her little incident:

Day 1

Day 2

Day 3

Day 4

P.S. I really do wipe her face off frequently. All these pics happened to be at breakfast or lunch time when she was "trapped" and not crawling off as I took her picture!

Changes

It's official. He even got his first paycheck. Yep...Cody got a new job.

He worked for Orbit Irrigation as a Quality Manager and we will always be ever so grateful to them for providing him with a job, lots of learning opportunities, and most important, a paycheck. He started off at Autoliv working on the manufacturing line while he went to school. Six years later he left there as an engineer for this great opportunity at Orbit. They valued him for his manufacturing experience at Autoliv, who is tops at what they do. He applied for this Orbit job on Sunday night and they called and had scheduled an interview by Monday morning. It was the crucial stepping stone in his career. But...after 3 years, it was time for change.

He now works for CR Bard in Salt Lake....kinda by the airport. They make medical devices like PICC lines (peripherally inserted central catheters...meaning they put a catheter in your arm and it goes up your arm and sits just in your heart), dialysis things, ports, and urinary cathetarization equipment. So far it has gone great. He trains with a different engineer every 2 weeks for 10 weeks total. He is one of the youngest there too. And we are just figuring out why. I'm guessing that someone would be just LOONEY to leave purely because of the benefits. They are INCREDIBLE!!!! Insurance doesn't have a deductible and often no co-pays. And in my book, it is cheap! They have retirement, which is completely seperate from their matching our 401k. They have offered large bonuses and significant yearly raises in the past. 48 hours vacation up front, 2 weeks vacation up front, and they consider it a "professional" environment...if you are sick, have a family emergency, need to be somewhere, etc... you just take the time you need, no matter how much and you don't have to use any vacation/personal time!!! And they want you to use your vacation time to get away....for vacation! You don't use it...you lose it.

I feel like we have been so very blessed in our lives. I just can't even believe it. I look around and see the struggles and trials so many people have to deal with and I feel guilty. And worried. I know we will all have these lessons to learn...and I am sure we will get ours. So right now I am just going to be absolutley grateful for this awesome opportunity Cody has. His career is heading just where he is wanting it to. Also, I am absolutley grateful for my sweet little kids and their mischevious personalities and healthy bodies. I love Cody more than I can put into words. He understands me, respects me, treats me like a princess. He is a great provider, even better dad, and an even better husband. I love him so much, my heart hurts!!

P.S. Another bonus about the job, you ask? Well...this mostly makes me happy. Cody has a friend, Tim, who works there too, so they started carpooling. He is up at 5:30 and to work by 7:00 a.m. and the greatest part is he leaves work at 4p.m., which means I get to enjoy him just a little longer in the evenings. So, for those of you who don't know Cody...this is NOT easy. He is NOT a morning person. So good job, honey!!

Just because...

...she's cute!!!

St. Patty's Mess

A wreched little leprechaun visited our house on St. Patrick's Day. He knocked over all our chairs and barstools, pulled the tissue's out of the box, threw dvd's all over, wadded up newspaper, and left little green footprints everywhere!!!! He was so very naughty. Good thing he left us some loot on the counter before disappearing. Gold coins, green bubblegum, green bead necklaces, play money, expandable washcloths (probably to clean up the mess), and markers. Addie and Mason happily cleaned up...they thought it was magical!

Hangnail

The kids were playing outside with Ellie and Josh and enjoying the sun. First Ellie comes in and says Addie is crying because Mason threw a rock and hit her in the face. Great. Pretty soon Addie comes in, slightly whining. She points to just below her fingernail and gingerly holding her hand with her other hand says, " Looooook Mom! I have an owieeeeeee!!! It hurts so bad!" This all while she can barely see over the top of her ever-growing lump on the side of her nose to see the tiny hangnail she is talking about! So I said "Honey, I am so sorry it hurts...but what about that GINORMOUS goose-egg where Mason hit you with a rock?" "Oh yeah....that hurts too!" she says.

That is one thing about Addie. If she is actually crying, you know she really got hurt. Or she is extremely tired. She is usually one tough cookie.

P.S. This turned into a pretty good black eye in the next couple of days. Oh yes....and Mason got in BIG trouble.

Jazz Game

If you ever hear of us getting season tickets to the Jazz...you will know we are finally filthy rich. Really. I don't know if any of you do the "When We Are Rich" list, but this is number 1 on ours. A close 2nd is a Chevy Camero. But in the mean time...we will just take any tickets when we can get them. Cody got tickets from work, so we had a date night. Z Tejas (yummy), spun the wheel and won a Jazz ice scraper (woot-woot!), and the game. Oh yeah!.

Birthday Girl

Nine days after Mason's birthday bash, we had another for Kendal. Hip hip hooray! Kendal turned one...entirely too fast if you ask me.

Typical. Addie whispering to Mason. Kendal bored and tired. Mason antagonizing one of his sisters. Ah-yi-yi!

Birthday Boy

Mason turned 3 in February and I truly can't believe it. He started telling people long before that, that he was going to have a "tractor birt-day". Who was I to disappoint this bright eyed little kid! P.S.: I am SO not a cake decorator...so don't judge me and my lack of skills!

Whoops!

So...I don't know WHY I thought giving a travel-sized bottle of baby powder to Kendal to play with seemed like a good idea. At the time she was fussy and I had to run into Jubilee to grab something. I left Addie in charge. Also, NOT a good idea. When I got back in the truck Addie was panicking and holding the baby powder. Keeping this in mind, listen to what she said, "MOM, MASON DID IT!" I looked over at Mason who was totally in the zone watching a movie on the DVD player and then back to Addie. Uh-huh, sure Addie....I'm SURE it was Mason.
